Who is responsible

Pitched is run by Leonard Percival. There is no company behind it yet. If you want anything explained, changed or deleted, email leonardpercival@gmail.com and you will get a reply from a person.

What we collect

Only what the matching actually needs:

• A name you choose. A first name is plenty. It does not have to be your real one.
• Your email address, so we can sign you in and tell you when there is a game.
• An area and a nearest station. Never a street address — the form does not ask for one and you should not give one.
• How you play: your armies, roughly how experienced you are, the kind of game you want, when you are free, and how far you will travel.

That is the lot. No date of birth, no phone number, no payment details, no location tracking, no cookies for advertising, no analytics watching what you click.

Who sees it, and when

This is the part worth reading properly, because it is the point of the whole thing.

Before you and an opponent have both said yes

They see your area, how experienced you are, and your armies. They do not see your name and they do not see your email address. You see exactly the same about them, and no more.

After you have both said yes

Your name and email address are released to each other, so you can sort out a time. Nothing else is.

If either of you says no

Nothing is released, and neither of you is told who said no.

This is not a policy we are promising to follow. It is enforced in the database: there is no way for the website to ask for a name that has not been released, because the database will not hand one over.

Who else holds it

• Supabase — the database, hosted in London.
• Cloudflare — serves the website itself.
• Resend — sends the emails, once it is switched on.

Nobody else. Your details are not sold, rented, shared with venues, or used to advertise anything to you.

How long it is kept

• A request to find a game lapses after 21 days.
• A proposed match lapses after 7 days if you do not answer it.
• Your account stays until you delete it.

Getting rid of it

Sign in, open You, and use Delete my account. It goes immediately and it takes everything with it — your profile, your requests and your matches. There is no confirmation email and no waiting period, and it cannot be undone.

You can also ask for a copy of what we hold, or ask us to correct it, by emailing the address above. If you think we have handled your details badly you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Because you ticked the box and said we could. That consent is the only basis we rely on, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.

One honest caveat about meeting people

Pitched introduces you to a stranger and suggests somewhere public to meet. It does not check who anybody is. Meet in the venue, not outside it, tell somebody where you are going, and if something feels wrong, leave. If somebody behaves badly, email the address at the top and we will act on it.
